![]() The above force comp is ideal in Germany, because they churn out the PzIII and PzIV, which start out and then switch as anti-inf/tank tanks.īear in mind, you do not need to maximise your army slots. You build up your forces over time, and sometimes you will not have enough units to even form battlegroups, so you make those choices as you go through the campaign. 1-2 x Arty (Bigger is better vs tanks, smaller is better vs infantry, in general, so prioritise based on where the arty is going, since it's mostly for infantry, it is rare you'll need the big feck off 21cm guns etc until you're facing the Russians.).1 x AT (and eventually, 1 x SPAT for the tanks backup).2 x tanks (one anti-vehicle, one anti-infantry).In general, my battle groups were always of some variant like this ![]() You move your infantry into close terrain, your tanks into the open, and you make sure they're backed by artillery and anti-tank supporting fire, and anti-air (eventually, lots of newbies neglect anti-air.) If it an enemy in the open, or they're not entrenched, then you unleash the tanks.Īnd as you move your battle groups along the axis of your attacks, you should bunch them together in such a way that they cover each other. That should be led by an Engineer team if it is any enemy in close terrain and entrenched. Only when you suppress them, and ideally, surround them with your attack troops, should you start your attack. Tactical bombers are more damage oriented, and they're usually best used vs Tanks in the open, but you can use them to soften enemies up before you hit them with the ground troops. Both Artillery and Strat bombers will suppress and remove defences. ![]() You should be suppressing them and removing their entrenchment. That's why they'll be going ka-boom, especially early-war when tanks are rather weak.īefore you even think about launching any attacks, you should be bombarding the snot out of the enemy with artillery, strategic bombers and tactical bombers. A tank has lower close defence than normal defence, and if an infantry attacks into that terrain type (or vice versa) the infantry attacks with full power vs the tank's lower close defence stat. That's cities, towns, woods, hills, mountains etc. Infantry are murdering tanks probably because they're in close terrain. Then, you need to think about your force composition.ĭon't leave home without recon, you want to be able to spot enemies so that you can move your units into good position and plan your axis and methods of attack. That gives a good enough overview of how to play, as does the manual book. Your first port of call should be the tutorial, if you're struggling. I don't really buy the argument that it's a puzzle game, it follows the same principle as all hex based war games of this type do. There are some elements I'm struggling to get my head around, like how infantry seem to be really good at frontal assaults on tanks, but beyond that I'm not too sure what I'm missing.Īnyone got anything they wish they'd known starting out? Or am I best off just dropping the game as someone who really isn't a fan of combat puzzles? Even in the first few missions I'm struggling to keep losses down, and by the third mission or so I'm already so short on prestige I can't field a full army. I'm not the greatest tactician out there but I like to think I can hold my own, but in this game I'm just stuck in a constant loop of savescumming and restarts.ĭo people consider this a 'tactical puzzle' type game or am I approaching it wrong? It feels like there's an optimal solution to each mission, and deviating from it is punished hard. I don't know if I was wrong or if I'm just bad, but it's absolutely kicking my ass. Hi folks, I picked up Panzercorps 2 in the recent steam sale, thinking it looked like it was a bit on the gentler side of the war gaming spectrum. Obviously, if you feel enough discomfort during the donation process that it’s concerning, tell one of the phlebotomists right away. So you may want to bring a blanket or jacket. When they return the blood, it’s mixed with saline, which can tend to be very cold and cause some discomfort. On top of pricking your finger, they will use a needle and IV to draw your blood and return the plasma-less blood to your body. It’s no more and no less painful than that. When it comes to the discomfort involved with donating plasma, just think of it like donating blood. This gives your body time to replace the lost plasma (drinking lots of water helps this process). The general rule is no more than twice a week with the donations happening at least 24 to 48 hours apart. Future donations should take only about an hour, mainly because you still have to complete a medical questionnaire to make sure nothing has changed. If you choose to donate plasma again, the process won’t take nearly as long. Then they separate the plasma (the clear liquid part of your blood) using something called a plasmapheresis machine and return the blood to your body. The first step to getting plasma is to draw your blood. It may look similar to donating blood, but because it’s more involved than donating blood, the actual donating part of the process can take up to an hour. Once they’re ready for you to start donating, you’ll sit in a semi-reclined chair and they’ll get started. Just a heads-up, they will prick your finger to test the hemoglobin, blood, and iron levels. This basic checkup can include a urine test, a heart check, and testing of your reflexes. If it’s your first time donating, plan for this shindig to take an hour and a half to two hours.Īfter you get to the plasma center, you will need to complete a health history on one of their computers and go through a very basic physical. Also, alcohol and caffeinated drinks are diuretics (meaning they dehydrate you), so it’s best to avoid those as well.Īs far as documentation, you’ll need your Social Security card (or proof of it), proof of address, and a photo ID - your name and address must match on all the documents.Īnd what’s nice is that some centers don’t require you to schedule an appointment, but you’ll want to check with your local center before you leave the house. But you also want to avoid super fatty foods that are high in cholesterol.Īnd because it’s important to stay hydrated, you should drink lots of water the day before and the day of your donation. This should include heart-healthy meals, like fruits, vegetables, and fish. The most important thing is to drink a lot of fluids and eat healthily and regularly. To donate plasma you will need to do the following: To overturn it, you’d need to get a second medical opinion However, you can try to overturn a center’s permanent deferral if you think it was given to you in error. Permanent Deferral: If they give you a permanent deferral, it can be because of your age, weight, or if you have certain medical conditions that can negatively affect you or anyone who would receive your blood plasma. The center will advise you on what to do next and when you can come back to donate. Temporary Deferral: Temporary deferrals can happen if you’re sick, recovering from a recent procedure, or if your hemoglobin, iron, or blood levels are too low.If you don’t qualify for plasma donation, the center may give you one of two types of deferrals: temporary or permanent. Some states have rules that prohibit those with tattoos or piercings from donating and put a minimum on the number of donations you can make in a certain timeframe. For example, the age minimum is 19 in Nebraska. These rules can change depending on the state you’re in, and local laws can even override the center requirements. ![]() Have a legal government ID or Social Security Card (to prove you’re a citizen).Must have proper levels of hemoglobin, iron, and blood.Need to pass a basic physical and be absent of infectious diseases. You can donate plasma as long as you meet certain requirements: Yes, you can get paid and possibly help sick people, but you should first consider the ethical concerns and the effort it takes to donate your blood plasma.Ĭheck out our other articles if you are looking for other ways to make money.īlood plasma is actually the part of the blood that’s a clear liquid which consists of:ĭonating blood plasma is not the same as donating blood to the Red Cross. In this section, we’ll define some important kayak jargon that you’ll want to know for the rest of this article. The bow is the front (or nose) of your kayak. ![]() We like to remember this because it is customary to bow FORWARD as a greeting in some cultures. The stern is the back (or tail) of your kayak. A clever way to remember this is to think of the stern face your mother might give you when you want to take something BACK. A kayak’s width is typically measured from gunwale-to-gunwale and the height of the gunwales plays a role in determining how dry the cockpit remains while paddling in windy or wavy conditions. The cockpit is the area in which you sit when you paddle a kayak. Depending on the design of the kayak, some cockpits are more open and others are more closed to the exterior environment. BulkheadĪ bulkhead is a sealed barrier on the inside of a kayak that functions to separate different compartments. They are primarily found on sit-inside kayaks to provide flotation and structure for internal storage compartments. Tracking is the fancy term for a kayak’s ability to hold its course (i.e. In general, longer kayaks are able to track straighter over distance, but many kayaks include a retractable skeg to boost their tracking ability. Unless you already know you need to focus on kayaks made for big guys and gals, most of us will decide on kayak size based more on comfort and performance. So let’s go over the pros and cons of various kayak sizes. While there are certainly shorter kayaks out there, an eight-foot length is one of the smaller options. This is a great kayak size for kids and small adults who are relatively new to the sport.Īn eight-foot kayak can also be useful for whitewater applications. Their shorter length makes them more maneuverable, which should be a higher priority than top-end speed if you’re using a kayak for running rapids.Īnother upside to an eight-foot kayak is added stability. Most shorter kayaks tend to be more stable for recreational paddling because they have a better length-to-width ratio. That being said, not all eight-foot kayaks are super stable because some models are designed to be skinnier. You should always take both length and width into consideration when looking into a kayak’s stability. If you’re looking for a fun, stable kayak that you can play in gentle rapids with, you should definitely consider an eight-foot model. These kayaks can also be great for smaller paddlers on frequently calm waters. ![]() 10 FootĪ 10-foot kayak is one of the more common sizes for recreational kayaks. These kayaks boast similar stability to an eight-foot kayak while offering additional storage capacity for longer day kayaking trips. Most 10-foot kayaks will offer open storage compartments in both the bow and stern areas of the kayak. While you might need a dry bag if you need to keep anything from getting wet, these areas give you extra space to bring more gear and supplies on the water.Īs you might imagine, 10-foot kayaks come in many shapes and styles. Generally, however, this is a great length for novice paddlers that are looking for a stable kayak at a reasonable price point. This kayak size also retains excellent maneuverability for paddling in tight spaces. That’s another reason why some kayak anglers choose a 10-foot kayak for fishing in swampy locations or on rivers that require more precise maneuvers. ![]() More information about white space in equation markup is provided below. For the examples, I have added white space to the markup in order to make more clear the concept I am illustrating (white space is generally unnecessary much of the time). ![]() In this section I will review basic commands for formatting equations using Origin’s LaTeX App. To do this, see the section Testing with TeXworks at the end of this post. If you want to test or debug errors in your equation markup, you can run it in Texworks, an application that ships with MiKTeX (the typesetting engine used for Origin’s LaTeX App). Such generators produce generally decent and thorough markup. You simply build your markup and then copy and paste the markup into the LaTeX App. If you don’t feel comfortable manually entering LaTeX equation markup, there are a number of online LaTeX equation editors that allow a user to generate markup using a graphical user interface. Figure 1 (click to enlarge) Using an Online Equation Editor In my introduction to the App, I explain how to resize, rotate and change the text color of the generated equation, so I won’t discuss that again. ![]() You then enter your equation markup and either click the Preview button to see a preview of the generated equation or the OK button to add the generated equation to the graph (or layout). The LaTeX Equation Editor will popup (See Figure 1). With a graph (or layout) window active, click on the LaTeX App in the App Gallery. Using the LaTeX App to Generate an Equation If you want to pursue the subject in more depth, links to additional learning resources are available at the end of this post. Note: this is not an authoritative treatment. The information and examples are based on the fact that the App automatically includes the amsmath package which improves upon the default equation support built in to LaTeX. In this post, I will go over the basics for creating equation markup within the App that will generate attractive output. In previous blog posts, I’ve introduced OriginLab’s LaTeX App. Note:Origin 2023b includes built-in LaTeX support so LaTeX App and MiKTeX installations are no longer required. ![]() ![]() Alignment and distribution snapping Gradient Editing Thanks to an Inkscape summer student, version 1.2 now has two new modes of on-canvas snapping, which make aligning objects just the way you want so much easier to achieve!
